In reading, she teaches fluency, phonics, vocabulary, spelling, letter recognition, and comprehension.
Lisa is great at helping students ease their test taking anxiety using many techniques. For example, practicing timed reading, answering questions, vocabulary, parts of speech, creative writing and much more using the students own classroom materials.
In Drama classes your child will learn skills such as physical expression, teamwork, memorization skills, and so much more.
Lisa works with students from grades Kindergarten through Sixth. Each session is customized to meet your child's unique needs and learning style.
Fluency & Comprehension
Fluency and comprehension foster smooth reading and understanding through practice, pacing, and strategies like summarizing, boosting confidence and retention.
Phonics & Vocabulary
Phonics and vocabulary builds decoding skills and word knowledge. Phonics teaches letter-sound relationships, while vocabulary enhances understanding and usage, supporting reading and comprehension.
Spelling
Spelling enhances word recognition and writing accuracy through patterns, rules, and practice, boosting reading fluency and overall communication skills.
Writing & Penmanship
Writing and penmanship improves expression and handwriting, focusing on idea organization, grammar, and fluency for better communication.
Test Taking
Test taking can be the most difficult part of school, lowering your child's confidence and raising anxiety. Low test scores, which effect grade level placement, can also trigger feelings of a huge let down for the parents and child. Lisa takes your child to new heights, building their confidence while learning what the child needs and why they are scoring low. She has had a lot of success in helping children raise their scores a significant amount.
Drama
These classes are designed to help your child's ability to use teamwork as a way to learn to work with other students. Learning to be in front of other students is great for debating, public speaking, character development, listening and critical thinking which all help problem solving skills.
